Exposure to laparoscopic techniques for colorectal surgery is essential for the colorectal surgery trainee. Your laparoscopic experience will consist of the following:

  • Attendance at the animal sponsored anal and cadaver laparoscopic courses in the fall and winter of your colorectal surgery residency.
  • Laparoscopic cadaver lab in Grand Rapids.
  • Laparoscopic training lab in Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus for mastering of suturing and knot-tying techniques
  • Laparoscopic case load which currently is approximately 25 cases per year
