The Continuing Medical Education Committee's (CMEC) function is to oversee GRMERC's overall continuing medical education program, including the designation of credit for approved continuing medical education activities. The CMEC will meet as necessary at the request of the chairperson, but not less than quarterly. The Continuing Medical Education Office supports GRMERC's CME activities and on-going internal review to assure that accreditation standards are maintained and the Essentials are being adhered to.

CME Committee Function & Responsibilities
The Continuing Medical Education Committee's (CMEC) function is to oversee GRMERC's overall continuing medical education program, including the designation of credit for approved continuing medical education activities. The CMEC will meet as necessary at the request of the chairperson, but not less than quarterly.

Responsibilities include:

  • Adherence to CME Essentials
  • Review of the CME budget
  • Review of applications and recommendation for designation of Category 1 Credit for CME activities
  • Recommend policies and establish procedures for the CME function

Administrative Function & Responsibilities
The Continuing Medical Education Office supports GRMERC's CME activities and on-going internal review to assure that accreditation standards are maintained and the Essentials are being adhered to.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participates in the accreditation process
  • Assists in developing and implementing the policies and procedures by which the CME program operates
  • Coordinates the process of designating credit
  • Serves as a resource for applicants and potential applicants
  • Maintains the permanent files of applications, evaluations, physician participants, and activities
  • Develops and maintains the computerized database on activities, evaluation, and physician participants and provides annual reports to physicians
  • Collects, analyzes, and provides evaluations and evaluation feedback to activity planners
  • Provides reports for the CME Committee as requested
  • Coordinates the budgeting process and submits financial reports to the CME Committee as requested
  • Develops and conducts needs assessment surveys as requested
  • Assists in writing objectives for CME activities as appropriate
  • Assists in designing evaluation forms for CME activities as appropriate
