Residents are expected to complete research projects of publishable quality consistent with RRC recommendations. Residents are given five weeks of dedicated clinical research time in their third and fourth years. Basic science research opportunities are available and encouraged. Faculty members are expected to use the research projects as an educational tool with regards to methodology, statistics, and an evidence-based investigative approach. To encourage participation in specialty and subspecialty societies, the department reimburses travel expenses for research projects that are accepted for presentation at various meetings.
