Those interested in conducting research in either the Saint Mary’s Health Care

or Spectrum Health systems must first complete the online Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI).

If this is your first time taking this training, follow the directions for ‘new registrant’.  If you have previously taken the training for another institution,

follow the directions for ‘already registered’.

                                                                        Each of these courses is made up of a series of modules.  For most of these                                                                                modules you will have to take a quiz.  The minimum cumulative passing score                                                                             for each course is 85 percent.  In the event this score is not achieved, you will                                                                               need to retake some of the quizzes.  After finishing the modules with a passing                                                                            score, a screen will appear indicating the successful completion of the course.

                                                                        Some hints to keep in mind when taking the quizzes:

                                                                              1) Always choose the 'nice' answer

                                                                              2) Assume the IRB has to see everything (99/100 times)

                                                                              3) You are dealing with the Feds, so if available always choose the answer                                                                                       with a specific timeframe
