Thank you for your interest in our Transitional Year Residency Program in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our program is uniquely designed to give you a wonderful learning experience during your time with us.

The general guidelines for applying to our Transitional Year Program are as follows:

1. Applications are accepted through ERAS only.

  • You will be contacted via email if you are offered an interview.
  • Faxed or e-mailed CV's and applications are not accepted.
  • Scores of 85 or higher preferred on USMLE steps 1 and 2 on the first attempt.
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation and Dean’s Letter from medical school.
  • Qualify to receive a Limited Medical License from State of Michigan.

2. International Medical Graduates

  • Graduation from medical school no more than three (3) years from the start of TY program.
  • Clinical experience as a physician in a hospital no more than two (2) years from the start of TY program.
  • J1 visas offered.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid ECFMG prior to the start of TY program.

Effective 11/4/2009 the Transitional Year Residency Program has Continued Accreditation for 5 years from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
